Owners of the Granville Harbour Wind Farm will donate a further $20,000 to eligible community groups this September, as part of the wind farm’s annual Community Grants Program.
Now in its third year, the Grants Program has provided nearly $50,000 to community initiatives promoting greater liveability and vitality on Tasmania’s West Coast.
Granville Harbour Wind Farm Operations Manager, Antony Beard, said the Granville Harbour Wind Farm Grants Program always received strong interest, an indication of local residents’ active involvement in many diverse community groups and not for profit initiatives.
“This year’s Community Grants Program will deliver additional positive social impact and is one of the ways the team at Granville Harbour Wind Farm shares the benefits of operating this new renewable energy asset with the community,” Mr Beard said.
“Up to $20,000 is available to support local organisations and projects that contribute to the sustainability, diversity and safety of the tight-knit West Coast region.”
“We are particularly keen to support programs that are geared towards promotion of renewable energy and protection of the environment – to ensure the longer-term sustainability of this community into the future.”
Applications for the Granville Harbour Wind Farm Community Grant are now open.
Since commencing commercial operations in Dec 2021, output at the Granville Harbour Wind Farm has been excellent – providing over 300 GWh of clean energy to Tasmanian electricity customers.
In practical terms, this is equivalent to supplying around 48,000 homes or businesses – and a 4% increase in the amount of clean energy generated in Tasmania over this time.
A stunning timelapse video highlighting the complex nature of the 2.5-year construction program has also recently been released – it can be viewed on Granville Harbour Wind Farm’s web page, https://granvilleharbourwindfarm.com.au/
Information on how to apply for a 2021 Community Grant is also available on the Granville Harbour Wind Farm website www.granvilleharbourwindfarm.com.au/community
