The Granville Harbour Wind Farm is located on a remote beef cattle farm near Zeehan, on the West Coast of Tasmania.
The wind farm’s 31 latest-technology Vestas turbines can generate up to 112 megawatts of clean, renewable energy. This is enough electricity to power around 46,000 homes – equivalent to almost every household in the North West of Tasmania.
The clean power output from Granville Harbour Wind Farm has helped Tasmania achieve its goal to become 100 per cent self-sufficient in renewables.
Construction and successful final commissioning of Granville Harbour Wind Farm was completed in December 2020. A huge congratulations to everyone involved in reaching this milestone. The 2-minute video below includes some spectacular time-lapse and drone footage captured during the construction phase. A longer version is available here.
